Recent Team Accomplishments
Despite the relitively small size of our school, the University of Northern Iowa's Men's Rugby team has been able to compete at a very nigh level both in the midwest and nationally. We have recently moved up to Division I in the midwest, matching us up with school like Minnesota, Ohio State, Iowa State, and Purdue, who have many times our enrollment. UNI has managed to compete, however, at a consistently high level. Here is a list of some recent accomplishments:
| Year |
Accomplishment |
| 2006-2007 |
Won first place in the midwest in Division II tournament in the fall of 2006. One of eight national qualifiers for nationals in Sanford, Florida in the spring of 2007. Lost a match to the Coast Guard Accademy and rebounded with a win against a team from Loyola, California. We ended up finishing fifth in the nation for Division II. |
| 2007 |
We won our pool and beat Wisconsin - Stout in the quartfinals on our way to qualifying for midwest Division I final four in the fall of 2007. It was our first year of competition in midwest Division I. We ended up placing fourth in the midwest behind Bowling Green, Ohio State, and Minnesota. |
| 2008 |
Qualified for midwest tournament by finishing fourth on our side of the conference in the fall of 2008. Lost in the quarterfinals to a tough Bowling Green team to finish tied for seventh in the midwest |
